Fans of musical theatre, and “Hairspray” are in for a treat this summer! Local youth performing arts charity, Riverside theatre company, is running another of its acclaimed summer workshops, this year working towards a final show based on the musical, which will be performed, at the end of the week, to an invited audience of friends and family.

Whether you are the next Connie Fisher or George Sampson, or a complete novice wanting to have a go, you are guaranteed to improve your singing, acting and dance skills and have a great time!

The Team

Sophie Pillar
Sophie Pillar - Director
Sophie graduated from Queen Mary’s University London, she is currently a drama teacher at St Thomas More Upper School in Bedford, where she is currently directing ‘A Fairy Bad Dream ’. As an actor Sophie has performed in ‘Sweet Charity’, ‘Paint your Wagon’ and ‘Copenhagen’.

Jo Ryan - MD

Jo is an experienced musical director, including the productions ‘West side story’ at the Cambridge corn exchange, ‘Little shop of horrors’, and ‘Sunday in the park with George’. Last summer she was assistant musical director for ‘The Company’, a spin off of the National youth music theatre. For Riverside Jo is a choir leader and has recently MD'd 'Seussical'.

Sara Johnson - Choreographer

Sara is well known at Riverside, both as the choreographer for both the morning and afternoon Sunday groups and running the dance academy. She has recently worked on ‘Guys and Dolls’, ‘The Jungle Book’, ‘Godspell’ & 'Seussical'.
